General situation

High pressure over the North Sea will gradually move away eastwards towards Scandinavia on Sunday. This will allow shallow areas of low pressure to move northwards towards the west of the United Kingdom, bringing spells of rain and thundery showers for southern and western coasts late on Saturday and during Sunday.

Cape Wrath to Rattray Head including Orkney - Strong wind warning

24 hour forecast: South or southwest 3 to 5, becoming variable 3 or less at times, then occasionally 6 later near Rattray Head. Moderate or rough in northwest, elsewhere smooth or slight, occasionally moderate later near Rattray Head. Showers for a time in north. Good.

Outlook for the following 24 hours: Southerly 3 to 5, becoming variable 2 to 4 except in far east. Rough becoming moderate later west of Orkney, elsewhere slight or moderate, but mainly smooth in the Moray Firth. Showers at first in north. Good.

Channel Islands

24 hour forecast: East to northeast 2 to 4, increasing 3 to 5 by midday, locally variable and gusty later. Smooth to slight, occasionally moderate in the far north. Showers, possibly thundery, developing in the south of the area in the afternoon, spreading northwards in the evening. Good, locally moderate or perhaps poor later.
