Today:

A few spots of rain may be felt first thing, but for most it will be a fine day with sunny spells. Turning cloudier into the afternoon with rain slowly edging towards the south coast. Feeling mild in the sunshine. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Tonight:

Rain will continue to spill northwards, becoming persistent, widespread and in some places heavy overnight. Becoming windy too, with gales possible along the north Devon coast by dawn. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Friday:

Widely wet and overcast, with persistent rain turning heavy in many areas, bringing a risk of flooding and challenging driving conditions. Windy too, with gale force winds in places. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Turning more settled over the next few days with cloudy skies bringing a few showers at times, interspersed with bright or sunny spells. Light winds, but feeling colder for all.

Colder conditions, already affecting the far north of the UK are likely to extend south to affect all pasts through the early part of the period. Initially we may see some less cold conditions with some cloud, rain and possibly hill snow affecting parts of the west. It is as this clears later Tuesday that the colder conditions will extend south, bringing some snow showers into northern parts, and the first frosts of the season for many parts of the south. Later in the period there is increasing uncertainty, but a trend towards more changeable conditions is possible, with some rain or showers in places, and perhaps some hill snow at times in the north. Temperatures overall likely to return to near-average.

Whilst the expected weather patterns during late November and into December are inevitably very uncertain, there is a signal for largely unsettled or at least changeable conditions across the UK, with the flow tending to come mainly from the Atlantic. This means spells of wind and rain are likely for most if not all parts, with a risk of some snow, mainly in the north over high ground. Some drier, brighter interludes are also likely, with an associated risk of frost and fog. Temperatures are likely to be near or a little above normal overall.
