Headline:

Remaining unsettled, with a mix of showers and sunny spells.

Today:

A bright start in east, however, cloudier in the west and coastal areas with showers continuing, these will become more widespread through the morning. Showers will occasionally be blustery, and carry a chance of hail and thunder. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Tonight:

Cloudy with showers through much of the evening, but clearer spells develop overnight as cloud breaks up and showers fade inland. Under clear skies pockets of grass frost may form. Minimum temperature 2 °C.

Wednesday:

Another bright and dry start for many, though patchy cloud and occasional showers spread west through the day. Turning increasingly cloudy and breezy later ahead of a rain band overnight. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

A damp start to Thursday, with patchy cloud and showers moving in from the southwest. Remaining largely unsettled thereafter, with a mix of rain and showers into the weekend.

Likely a continuation of the unsettled conditions seen for much of the week with further showers or some longer spells of rain affecting much of the country. On Saturday a frontal zone is expected to move east and this could bring a spell of locally heavy rain, particularly on hills exposed to the strong southerly winds. Behind this turning brighter but with showers, some of which could be heavy and thundery. Its possible we could then see yet more organised, locally heavy rain move across most areas on Monday. Generally temperatures will be close to average, but it will likely feel quite chilly in the often wet and breezy conditions. However we are unlikely to see much in the way of frost or fog in this unsettled spell.

There is a greater chance of spells of high pressure during this period, bringing more in the way of dry weather compared to the unsettled patterns we are likely to see through the first couple of weeks of December, which also increases the chances of overnight fog and frost. There will probably still be some spells of rain, showers, and stronger winds though, especially in the west. Hill snow is also a possibility, mainly in the north. Overall, near or slightly above average temperatures are most likely, though some colder spells are also possible, especially should any prolonged settled spells develop.
