    Headline:

    Outbreaks of showery rain, especially in the west.

    Today:

    A chilly but bright morning, with scattered showers, these heaviest and most frequent in the west. Tending to cloud over for most during the afternoon, with further showery outbreaks of rain. Breezy around the coasts. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

    Tonight:

    Cloudy through the evening with heavy rain pushing northwestwards. The rain slowly clearing during the early hours, though staying mostly cloudy, with some drizzle in the west. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

    Monday:

    After a cloudy and damp start we should see the cloud break up through the day, giving a brighter afternoon for many with sunny spells and light winds. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

    Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

    With high pressure building it is likely to remain settled, but often cloudy. Gradually turning colder come Christmas Day as an easterly breeze develops, with perhaps the odd wintry flurry.
