Today:

Heavy rain spreading northeast during this morning, with frequent heavy showers following from the south later. Windy at times with gales in places, severe on southern coasts during this morning. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Tonight:

A little drier to start this evening, but further heavy rain arriving by midnight. This replaced by frequent showers and clear spells overnight. Windy at times and staying frost free. Minimum temperature 3 °C.

Monday:

A very windy and showery day with heavy downpours. Longer periods of heavy rain are likely at times. Severe gales in some coastal areas. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Remaining generally unsettled during this period with showers or longer spells of rain, heavy at times. Probably turning somewhat drier by Thursday. Windy at first with temperatures near average.

Cloud and periods of wet weather will probably affect far north and north-western parts of the UK at times, particularly early in this period. Some heavy rain is possible which could be accompanied by some spells of strong winds. South of this, across the rest of the UK, it is likely to be more settled and whilst some rain can't be ruled out at times, it should be predominantly dry through this period. Winds will mainly be light and this will bring the risk of mist and freezing fog patches and overnight frosts. Overall, temperatures will probably be close to normal for most, but perhaps slightly above in the far north and northwest of the UK.

Some periods of unsettled weather are likely at first bringing spells of rain and strong winds, mainly across the north of the UK but also spreading further south at times. Toward late February, drier, more settled conditions could develop more widely again, particularly in the south but perhaps spreading further north at times. Temperatures probably close to average overall, but some milder spells are likely - especially in the north.
