A dry morning with plenty of winter sunshine. Cloud will thicken from the southwest during the afternoon with some rain and hill snow reaching Dumfries and Galloway later. Maximum temperature 8 °C.
Rain spreads east, heavy at times and bringing difficult travelling conditions. Snow over hills, briefly to lower levels. Strengthening northerly winds. Severe gales or storm force winds later across Galloway. Minimum temperature 2 °C.
Further outbreaks of rain but becoming drier and brighter in the west through afternoon. Strong northerly winds with coastal gales, severe at first across Galloway. Maximum temperature 7 °C.
