Clear and dry for many overnight, perhaps with patchy low cloud bringing misty conditions over some hills later in the night. A rather chilly night with pockets of grass frost possible in sheltered rural areas. Minimum temperature 3 °C.

Wednesday:

Early cloud soon lifting to leave a fine day. After a cool start, soon feeling warm with plenty of strong April sunshine despite a breeze near coasts and hills. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Dry throughout the week with high pressure dominating. Often sunny and feeling warm by day. Chilly nights with rural frosts possible as winds ease. Cloudier into the weekend.

High pressure is likely to be centred close to or over the UK through much of the period. Therefore, many places will be largely dry with some clear or sunny spells, although there may be some overnight mist and fog patches. There could, however, be some outbreaks of rain or showers at times, especially in the west and northwest. Winds will be mostly light, but may be fresher around the coasts at times. Temperatures will generally be near to or a little above normal, but there may be some colder conditions at first in the far northeast. Towards the end of the period there is a chance that conditions turn a little more unsettled.

Residual high pressure will likely give way to more unsettled conditions through the early part of the period. This will probably allow Atlantic low pressure systems to spread towards the UK, increasing the chance of periods of heavy rain and perhaps strong winds at times. Towards the middle of the month, weather patterns become increasingly uncertain; however, the wettest and windiest conditions seem most likely to be in the northwest, with the drier and more settled conditions in the southeast. Temperatures will likely be near normal.
