Dry and largely sunny start. Cloud then builds from the southwest through the day, with brighter spells becoming more limited through the afternoon. Many parts staying dry, but a few outbreaks of rain possible, heaviest across the Pennines. Turning breezy. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Tonight:

Staying cloudy and breezy overnight, with further outbreaks of rain. Heavier and more persistent rain spreads northeast during the early hours of Wednesday, clearing around dawn. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Wednesday:

Cloudy with most parts dry, but also a few showers, perhaps heavy. Warm in any brighter spells that develop. Heavy rain and gusty winds then move east late afternoon. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Sunny spells and showers Thursday. Cloud thickening overnight, with some rain. Cloudy Friday, before heavy rain band spreads east later. Sunny spells and showers Saturday. Warm in any brighter spells.

A few showers around at the start of the period, mainly affecting the northwest where it will also be windy for a time. For many though the weekend should be fine and dry with spells of warm sunshine, but still some chilly nights. Into the following week fronts associated with another Atlantic low will try to push into the UK, but may struggle to make inroads against an area of high pressure to the northeast. So the greater chance of some rain is for western areas, while northern and eastern areas may well see plenty of dry weather. Temperatures likely remaining above average.

The dominant pattern during this period is most likely to be high pressure (or higher than average pressure) to the north and lower pressure to the south. This will probably lead to drier and more settled than normal weather in the north or northwest of the UK, with the south and possibly east more unsettled and wetter than normal. Temperatures will probably be close to or slightly above average overall.
