Dry start across the east with some brightness. Otherwise a cloudy day with scattered showers spreading from the west, these turning heavy at times. Showers easing later with some brighter spells breaking through. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Tonight:

Showers mostly dying out this evening before rain spreads to the southwest towards midnight. Then cloudy overnight with rain spreading east across most areas for a time. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Friday:

Cloudy with rain, heavy and persistent across the west. Some drier spells of weather across the east. Becoming windy with fresh southwesterly winds. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Cloudy on Saturday with rain at times across the west, drier elsewhere. Becoming somewhat brighter on Sunday and Monday with a few showers.

Likely a fairly cool and showery start to the new week. Showers will tend to focus on northern and eastern areas of the UK, while parts of the south and west again become largely dry. Through the rest of the week any rain will tend to focus on the north or northwest of the country, with the south becoming predominantly dry. Temperatures are likely to remain close to, perhaps a little below average initially. However toward the following weekend there are signs that temperatures will begin to trend up, becoming warm or very warm once again, especially across southern parts of the UK, but perhaps more widely as we head toward the middle of July.

Changeable conditions with a predominantly northwest to southeast split in temperature and rainfall, and the potential for further occasional episodes of hot weather and thundery outbreaks, are considered likely to gradually give way to something more settled and dry overall through the second half of July. Temperatures are likely to be above average, with the greatest chance of very warm or hot spells in the south or southeast.
