Headline:

Most dry, warm, sunny today. Light rain later in Hebrides.

Today:

A fine, dry and very warm day for many, particularly towards northern end of Great Glen. However cloud gradually increasing across Outer Hebrides from late morning to bring the chance of some patchy rain come late afternoon here. Light winds. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Tonight:

A little late sunshine towards Inverness and around the eastern coastal fringes. Otherwise increasingly cloudy with patchy rain for the Hebrides during the evening, extending elsewhere overnight. Light southwest breezes. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Saturday:

Temperatures significantly lower than Friday. A rather cloudy day, with some scattered showers about, most of these across western areas with the best of the shelter towards Inverness. Light winds. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Early patchy rain for Sunday, clearing to sunshine and scattered showers for the afternoon. Showers early Monday then periods of rain from the afternoon. Wet and windy for Tuesday.

Changeable and at times unsettled conditions for many parts of the UK at the start of this period, as areas of low pressure and their associated frontal zones run close to or over the UK. These are likely to be most active in the north and somewhat weaker further south, closer to a ridge of high pressure extending northeast from the subtropical Atlantic. There is also potential for a period of widely windy weather during the first part of this period. By the turn of the month high pressure may become rather more dominant once again with plenty of dry weather, but with some overnight fog and frost.

Blocked or slowly evolving weather patterns are favoured during the first week or so of April. High pressure is the preferred flavour of this block; this probably centred to the north or west of the UK. This means plenty of dry weather, possibly with some pleasantly warm days, but an ongoing chance of overnight fog and frost. Moving further into April, there is an increasing chance that high pressure will become less dominant and thus a greater chance of more places seeing some rain and possible stronger winds from time to time. Overall, temperatures panning out somewhere near to average.
