Turning unsettled over the weekend.

Today:

Any mist and fog soon clearing during Saturday morning. A chilly start with plenty of sunshine and becoming warm again. Likely turning more cloudy during the afternoon, with a risk of evening showers affecting Derbyshire. Breezy later, especially towards coasts. Maximum temperature 23 °C.

Tonight:

A cloudy and mild night with some rain or showers for parts of the region. Drier towards the end of the night with some clear spells. Winds mostly light. Minimum temperature 7 °C.

Sunday:

Bright or sunny spells after a mostly cloudy start to Sunday morning. Chance of showers, mostly in the early afternoon. Mainly dry by evening. Feeling fresher with westerly winds. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Bright or sunny spells and showers most days, with some longer spells of rain at times. Temperatures close to normal, but some chilly nights likely with chance of frost.

UK long range weather forecast

Much more mixed weather conditions than of late, with low pressure systems and their associated areas of rain and showers often affecting the UK. The rain is likely to be heavy at times, and the showers, most frequently affecting western areas, will also be heavy and blustery in places, with isolated small hail and thunder. There will also be some brighter, drier spells in between rain and showers, although probably large amounts of cloud too, with limited sunshine. Unsettled, wet, and occasionally windy conditions are most likely during the first few days of this period; beyond this, and certainly into the following week, there is an increasing chance that cooler, northerly winds could develop, followed by a less unsettled spell. Temperatures mostly around average for the time of year.

Some unsettled weather is possible at this start of this period with showers or longer spells of rain in places. However, a change to more settled conditions is more likely through this period as high pressure becomes more influential. This more settled theme continues into early May, although some briefer spells of wetter, unsettled weather remain possible, especially in the south. Temperatures are expected to be above average overall.
