This Evening and Tonight:

Showery rain feeding across the country this evening, with further rain in the south overnight. This can be heavy at times, but turning lighter by dawn. Drier in the north with broken cloud and becoming chilly here. Mild elsewhere. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Wednesday:

Rain at times in the south during the morning moving eastwards. Becoming brighter and drier through the day, isolated showers in the west. Cooler than Tuesday, but not as breezy. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Turning more unsettled, though a little milder. Wet and windy at times with periods of heavy rain or showers and the chance of gales. Occasional drier spells with some sunshine.

The changeable and at times unsettled weather is likely to continue through early November, with low pressure dominating the UK. This means further showers or longer spells of rain at times. All parts could see some heavy rain, but it is likely that western areas will be wettest. Strong winds are likely from time to time, with gales or severe gales a possibility. Equally there should also be some, at least brief, drier or clearer interludes, these more prevalent further east, but perhaps becoming a little more widespread and long-lasting by the end of the period. With winds predominantly blowing from a westerly or southwesterly quadrant, above average temperatures are most likely, with a reduced incidence of overnight frost and fog, compared to normal, especially at first.

A gradual transition from an unsettled westerly type to something less unsettled is anticipated through the middle part of the month. With time, greater incidences of high pressure look set to affect the UK, bringing more in the way of dry weather, but also increasing the chances of overnight fog and frost. By later in the month, the majority of any wet and windy weather is more likely to affect areas further to the north. Overall, temperatures look to pan out near to a little above average.
