A wet start with strengthening winds. Rain turning persistent and heavy through the morning, then becoming showery by the evening. Turning windy with coastal gales possible for a time. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Tonight:

Blustery showers turning heavy and turn wintry at times over high ground. Often windy, though winds easing a little overnight. Mostly dry by morning. Patchy frost possible in sheltered spots. Minimum temperature 3 °C.

Monday:

A few light showers possible first thing, but largely dry by the afternoon. A breezy start but winds easing. Still chilly but feeling more pleasant in lighter winds. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Some light rain is possible, especially on Wednesday, but otherwise next week looks mainly dry. Cloudy periods are likely but there'll also be sunny spells. Turning warmer. Breezy at times.

A broad northwest to southeast split is expected across the UK during this period. The northwest is likely to be more unsettled with low pressure systems moving in at times, bringing showers or longer spells of rain. Strong winds are also possible, particularly along coasts. In the southeast, high pressure will have greater influence, with more settled, drier weather as a result. Temperatures overall are likely to be near to or slightly above normal.

High pressure may be dominant early in this period, which would bring plenty of dry and settled weather across the UK, especially in the south. Any low pressure systems bringing wetter, windier weather are most likely to affect the north. Into late April, low pressure patterns may become more prevalent, with more unsettled, changeable conditions developing more widely. Temperatures are likely to be close to or slightly above normal.
