Headline:

Today:

A cloudy day, dry east at first, otherwise outbreaks of rain, heavy at times west in the morning. Then drier from the afternoon. Windy in the west. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Tonight:

Mostly dry with clear spells during the evening. Cloud spreads north from late evening with locally heavy rain following from midnight. Minimum temperature 4 °C.

Monday:

Cloudy with outbreaks of rain, some persistent and heavy. Becoming drier and brighter from the afternoon. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Cloudy with outbreaks of rain, persistent and heavy at times. Drier for a time Wednesday afternoon. Light winds strengthen for a time Tuesday night.

The start of this period is likely to be remaining largely unsettled and overall mild across all except the north of Scotland, with bands or areas of rain potentially becoming slow-moving. Rain is more likely to be focused across the south and east. Locally strong winds may also accompany some of the rain. Some drier spells are also likely, the best of these probably towards the north west. Where skies are clear and winds light overnight, frost and fog are likely, the fog slow to clear. Towards the end of this period, we may see a transition towards more generally drier weather across the UK, and with this it is likely to turn a little cooler overall, with a greater risk of overnight frost.

Whilst the expected weather patterns during late November are very uncertain, there is a greater chance of spells of high pressure during this period, bringing more in the way of dry weather compared to the current weather pattern, which also increases the chances of overnight fog and frost. There will probably still be some spells of rain, showers, and stronger winds though, especially in the west. Hill snow is also a possibility, mainly in the north. Overall, near or slightly above average temperatures are most likely, though some colder spells are also possible, especially should any prolonged settled spells develop.
