Cloud and occasional light rain moving south, becoming increasingly confined to east-facing hills. A brisk and gusty easterly breeze developing. giving a chillier feel. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Friday:

Further rain, heavy and persistent, slowly moving northwards through the day. The heaviest rain likely on east-facing hills. A strong and gusty east wind, feeling colder. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Further heavy into early Saturday, gradually easing from the north. Feeling cold, with a strong and gusty easterly wind. Drier and brighter Sunday and Monday. Winds gradually easing, feeling chilly.

All parts of the UK are likely to start off on a rather cold but bright note, with some sunshine. However, some showers are likely to pepper northern and eastern coasts, these wintry over high ground and possibly to low levels in the far northeast. A brisk northerly wind will accentuate the cold feel. Overnight frost will be widespread, especially in the north. Towards the middle of next week, an area of rain and stronger winds may move southeast across much of the UK, bringing a brief less cold spell, before a resumption of the cold northerly airflow with further wintry showers. Although very uncertain, high pressure may then settle things down by next weekend before it possibly turns milder, wetter and windier from the west late in the period.

Whilst the expected weather patterns during late November and into December are inevitably very uncertain, there is a signal for largely unsettled or at least changeable conditions across the UK, with the flow tending to come mainly from the Atlantic. This means spells of wind and rain are likely for most if not all parts, with a risk of some snow, mainly in the north over high ground. Some drier, brighter interludes are also likely, with an associated risk of frost and fog. Temperatures are likely to be near or a little above normal overall.
