Cullercoats

Low expected 1010 over Biscay on Saturday evening before losing its identity over France on Sunday. Deep Atlantic low expected 945 south of Greenland on Saturday evening, generally slow moving and expected 978 by midday on Sunday, then becoming multi-centred with primary centre 991 east of Greenland by midday on Monday, and then expected 1002 south and west of Iceland by midday on Tuesday. New low expected 993 west of Sole by midday on Tuesday, moving southeast as slowly starts to fill later Tuesday. No gales are expected in this region during the forecast period, however strong winds are likely to affect the northern North Sea from Saturday evening onwards, with near gales affecting Viking, North Utsire, South Utsire, Forties and Fair Isle from Sunday night before easing slightly on Monday afternoon, but strong winds continue here into Tuesday. Widespread fog is possible at times in the southern and western North Sea throughout the forecast period

Niton

Low expected 1010 over Biscay on Saturday evening before losing its identity over France on Sunday. Deep Atlantic low expected 945 south of Greenland on Saturday evening, generally slow moving and expected 978 by midday on Sunday, then becoming multi-centred with primary centre 991 east of Greenland by midday on Monday, and then expected 1002 south and west of Iceland by midday on Tuesday. New low expected 993 west of Sole by midday on Tuesday, moving southeast as slowly starts to fill later Tuesday. Strong winds are expected to affect the west at times from Sunday afternoon onwards, with near gales in Shannon until Sunday evening. Further strong winds, with gales at times, arrive from the west from Tuesday morning, with gales affecting Sole and Fitzroy, and strong winds in Shannon. Widespread fog is not expected during the forecast period

Portpatrick

Low expected 1010 over Biscay on Saturday evening before losing its identity over France on Sunday. Deep Atlantic low expected 945 south of Greenland on Saturday evening, generally slow moving and expected 978 by midday on Sunday, then becoming multi-centred with primary centre 991 east of Greenland by midday on Monday, and then expected 1002 south and west of Iceland by midday on Tuesday. New low expected 993 west of Sole by midday on Tuesday, moving southeast as slowly starts to fill later Tuesday. Strong winds and near gales spread into the western sea areas on Sunday night, with gales possible in South East Iceland until midday Sunday. Strong winds then spread east on Sunday afternoon, becoming confined to the north and east on Monday morning before further strong winds spread into the southwest on Tuesday. Widespread fog is not expected

The extended outlooks are issued once a day, at 2300 GMT and cover the next 3 to 5 days.

For the extended outlooks the waters surrounding the British Isles are divided into three areas: Cullercoats, Portpatrick and Niton. These three areas reflect the coverage areas of the UK's Navtex transmitters, which overlap in some areas.

The extended outlook forecast contains details of the likelihood of gales or storms, a general synopsis and a general forecast for the area of coverage of each Navtex transmitter.
