Cullercoats

Low 984 expected Viking Monday evening, moving northeast into Scandinavia Tuesday as it begins to lose its identity. Low 971 expected western Sole midnight Monday, quickly moving north or northeast and expected 958 Rockall by midday Tuesday and then 974 Fair Isle by midday Wednesday, before moving into Scandinavia on Thursday. High 1027 southwest of Fitzroy stretches a ridge over southern UK Wednesday as it moves northeast. New low 993 expected west of Shannon by midnight on Wednesday, moving north or northeast, expected 994 Rockall by midday Thursday. Strong winds and gales are expected to spread in from the west on Tuesday, with gales affecting Viking, Forties, Cromarty, Forth, Tyne, Dogger and Fair Isle from Tuesday afternoon, and with severe gales at times in Forth and Fair Isle. Gales then also spread into North Utsire, South Utsire, Fisher and German Bight on Wednesday, before strong winds and gales ease for all areas on Thursday afternoon

Gales easing in the south on Tuesday afternoon, and easing in the north on Tuesday night. Strong winds and gales affecting western sea areas again on Thursday

Gales and strong winds are expected to spread in from the south early Tuesday, with gales in Lundy, Fastnet, Irish Sea, Shannon, Rockall, Malin, Hebrides and South East Iceland, and severe gales in Shannon, Rockall and Malin Tuesday morning. Gales then spread into Bailey, Fair Isle and Faeroes on Tuesday afternoon, with severe gales continuing in Rockall and Malin and also affecting Hebrides, Bailey, Fair Isle and Faeroes before easing Wednesday for all except Fair Isle easing Thursday. Strong winds and gales affecting western sea areas again Thursday

The extended outlooks are issued once a day, at 2300 GMT and cover the next 3 to 5 days.

For the extended outlooks the waters surrounding the British Isles are divided into three areas: Cullercoats, Portpatrick and Niton. These three areas reflect the coverage areas of the UK's Navtex transmitters, which overlap in some areas.

The extended outlook forecast contains details of the likelihood of gales or storms, a general synopsis and a general forecast for the area of coverage of each Navtex transmitter.
