Niton

Low 1012 expected over Sole late Friday gradually moves northeast as it begins to lose its identity, expected 1014 Forties by midday Saturday, before then deepening slightly as it moves north into Sunday and expected 1007 Norwegian Basin by midday Sunday. Low then moves east over Norway as it continues to deepen slightly into Monday. Second low 1010 expected over Bailey late Friday, slowly moves north during Saturday and Sunday as it's deepens, expected 1007 South East Iceland by midday Sunday, before continuing north into the Norwegian Basin by midday Monday. High 1031 builds northeast into Fitzroy from midday Sunday, continuing to stretch northeast over the English Channel by midday Monday. Strong winds possible in Fitzroy from early Sunday onwards, developing into gales for a time from midday Sunday. Strong winds possible in north west Shannon for time on Sunday. Widespread fog is not expected

Portpatrick

No gales expected. Strong winds expected in Bailey, Faeroes and Southeast Iceland on Friday evening, dying out by midday Sunday. Strong winds expected to develop in northwest Shannon, Rockall and Bailey on Sunday. These die out in Shannon but are expected to spread to Hebrides, Fair Isle and Faeroes by midday on Monday then Malin and Southeast Iceland late on Monday. Widespread fog not expected

The extended outlooks are issued once a day, at 2300 GMT and cover the next 3 to 5 days.

For the extended outlooks the waters surrounding the British Isles are divided into three areas: Cullercoats, Portpatrick and Niton. These three areas reflect the coverage areas of the UK's Navtex transmitters, which overlap in some areas.

The extended outlook forecast contains details of the likelihood of gales or storms, a general synopsis and a general forecast for the area of coverage of each Navtex transmitter.
