Warm for central and eastern areas with the Moray coast seasonally very warm. Southeast winds fresh around coasts, pegging back temperatures around the east coast. Staying dry with sunny spells which turn hazy during the afternoon as higher cloud increases. Maximum temperature 20 °C.

Tonight:

Cloud thickening to bring occasional rain, this focused across Moray and western Aberdeenshire, with little expected to penetrate to the east coast. Southerly coastal winds initially fresh. Minimum temperature 7 °C.

Wednesday:

Eastern coastal areas milder than today. Elsewhere significantly cooler. Rather cloudy morning with some patchy rain, mostly confined across the far west. Mainly dry for the afternoon with brighter spells. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Rain early Thursday, clearing to brighter spells and showers for the afternoon. Friday turning wet and windy with best of shelter in east. Showers Saturday, more frequent in west.

It will likely remain rather changeable during the first part of this period with showers or occasional longer spells of rain affecting many areas. Whether this takes the form of successive weather systems pushing in from the Atlantic or a more slowly evolving weather pattern remains rather unclear. There may also be some drier and brighter interludes and when winds are light, it should feel quite warm, despite temperatures most likely being close to normal for most. Later in the month more blocked weather patterns become more likely, with high pressure in the vicinity of the UK. This increases the probability of more settled weather, especially in the north but there may still be periods of rain or showers, especially in the south.

Blocked patterns with high pressure near to the UK will probably be dominant during this period with a good deal of dry weather across the UK as whole. Some unsettled interludes could develop at times, especially in the south, where rainfall amounts could be above average. Temperatures will probably be near to or slightly above normal, although some cold nights are still possible.
